Boulder County Parks and Open Space and the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office Wildland Fire Management Program will begin the Overlook prescribed burn at Heil Valley Ranch today, October 28. Smoke will be visible in the area west of North Foothills Highway in between Lefthand Canyon and Lyons. The 22-acre burn will require one to two days of ignitions. However, the goal is to burn all 22 acres today, weather permitting. Heil Valley Ranch will be closed during ignition days.
Firefighting resources will remain on the prescribed burn until the fire is confirmed as being controlled by significant weather conditions or determined to be out. The project area is well contained by trails and roads. Fire hoses and fire engines will completely surround the area during the duration of the burn.
