We know that many were frustrated last night by the timing of the reduced evacuation area map. We were faced with a variety of challenges most of which were related to determining how large to make the overnight evacuation area. In some cases, even if a home was in the allowable area, there was no way for residents to get there safely, so we had to redraw the map. It is also critical in situations where there is no fire containment to do continual assessment of winds and changing weather conditions. It was our goal to allow as many people back into their homes as we could with a reasonable expectation of safety. We achieved that. We are sorry it took us later into the night than we had hoped.
