A High Wind Watch is issued for Thursday, Dec. 18, in Boulder County. Wind is expected to pick up into the evening hours. Open burning is not allowed anywhere in Boulder County all day and similar conditions are expected to last for the next few days.
A High Wind Watch means there is a chance strong winds could develop and increase the risk of fire spread.
Avoid any outdoor activities that may cause a spark or flame (no campfires, charcoal grills, slash burns, outdoor welding, parking in high grass, etc.). Do not throw cigarettes or matches outdoors. They may ignite dry grass on the side of the road and become a wildfire.
It’s critical that everyone does their part to prevent wildfires. Simple actions can make a big difference in protecting Boulder County from devastating fire damage.
