The Office of Emergency Management is monitoring the current severe weather and has been in contact with the National Weather Service (NWS) all evening. There is an areal flood advisory for the foothills from Jamestown up to the Larimer/Boulder county line.
Areal flooding is caused by steady rain inundating a large area. Flooding can occur within six hours of the time an advisory is issued. It is slower in development than flash flooding. It can be a risk to life and property. Signs of areal flooding will first be seen in low-lying areas, small creeks and tributaries. We encourage community members to be watchful. If you observe stream or creek behavior that is uncharacteristic or appears to be potential flooding for the area please report it by dialing 9-1-1. Always be sure to act first and remove yourself from harm’s way before reporting.
