Disaster Assistance Center open at Nederland High School for Cold Springs Fire residents

Residents impacted by the Cold Springs Fire are encouraged to check-in to the DAC with any fire-related recovery assistance needs.

The Boulder County Housing and Human Services, Land Use, and Community Services departments along with Boulder County Public Health are operating a Disaster Assistance Center at Nederland High School (597 Eldora Rd.) for those with recovery assistance needs resulting from the Cold Springs Fire.

At the Boulder County Disaster Assistance Center, fire-impacted residents have access to help with food replacement, temporary housing, transportation assistance (including bus passes), and public supports such as health coverage and SNAP (food assistance). Information is also available about food safety and water testing, septic and well issues, fire retardant (slurry) cleanup, debris removal, rebuilding and more.

Hours of Operation

  • 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday and Friday (July 14 and 15)
  • The center will be closed over the weekend,
  • 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday and Tuesday (July 18 and 19)

Further assessment will be conducted next week to determine the best methods and locations for responding to need going forward.

In addition to assistance for those evacuated or otherwise displaced by the Cold Springs Fire, Boulder County Housing and Human Services case managers are conducting direct outreach to those who lost their homes in the fire. This work is being done in partnership with Boulder County Land Use and the Red Cross. Other Boulder County Disaster Assistance partners include the Town of Nederland, the Nederland Community Center, Nederland Food Pantry, the Red Cross, Salvation Army, and Mental Health Partners.

Financial Contributions for Residents Impacted by Cold Springs Fire

A fire relief fund has been set up through Foothills United Way for the collection of financial donations to help residents impacted by the Cold Springs Fire near Nederland. Those seeking to make online contributions can visit www.ColdSpringsFireFund.org. The funds will be distributed by the Boulder County Department of Housing and Human Services through case managers working with fire-impacted residents to determine need.
