A small spot fire has been confirmed across Boulder Canyon (south side of 119) near the old Tungsten Townsite. A shot crew is on-scene to work on it and put it out. Helicopters are assisting. Boulder Canyon Rd. will remained closed tonight to allow firefighters to work in that area .
These sorts of spot fires are not uncommon, and their presence does not mean the fire has moved beyond its current perimeter. Spot fires are like embers from a campfire that fly up and create a spark or start a small fire in a location outside the fire perimeter. Hot shot crews will remain on-hand overnight to quickly mobilize and put out these spot fires.
