Updates for #SunshineFire

The evacuations and pre-evacuation alerts will remain in place overnight while firefighters continue to fight pockets of intense heat and potential flare-ups in the interior of the #SunshineFire. Winds will be a factor overnight, and active fire spots could reappear between now and tomorrow morning.

Additionally, air support is not available after dark, and ground firefighting operations and evacuations are much more difficult to adjust and/or coordinate in the dark.

The fire remains at 62 acres and 20 percent containment. There are no reports of lost or damaged properties, or of any injuries. High visibility patrols by law enforcement will remain in the area. Two engines will be available overnight for structure protection if needed.

As a result of current and forecasted fire and weather conditions, the evacuations of 426 homes that have been in place since early this morning will not be lifted overnight.

Residents who are in the pre-evacuation area are urged to remain on alert overnight and be prepared to leave if evacuations are ordered.

The Incident Management Team will reevaluate the status of the evacuations tomorrow at 8 a.m. Fire managers are hoping to be able to get everyone back to their homes by noon tomorrow. Anyone who has been evacuated is encouraged to monitor updates at:
